Molding, as a term, is more specific than just "shaping", because shaping can also refer to things like enforcing or exploiting amnesia without necessarily trying to change what a headmate is like or condition them to do something. However, all molding falls under shaping, like how all rape is sexual abuse, but some forms of sexual abuse may not necessarily fit under rape.
One example of abuse that would include both molding and shaping apart from molding could include two systems in a relationship with each other, one of whom is abusive and one of whom is not. The abusive partner sexually abuses the more amnesiac members of the system instead of the headmates who are more likely to remember the abuse, which is shaping without molding.
However, if the shaper then proceeded to gaslight the abused parts into thinking they liked the abuse after all, or if they tried to get the more amnesiac part of the system to split headmates who felt like they wanted to be abused, that would more specifically be molding.
It isn't always necessary to distinguish when something was shaping or more specifically molding, as all molding is shaping. However, some systems may feel that these processes are separate, and that their shaping with some people was more specifically molding, like how some people who are deceived in abusive relationships may be more specifically gaslit than just lied to with malicious intent.
